A Chemical Operator will operate, monitor and clean all equipment in the multi-purpose production facility. This includes chemical reactors, stills, kettle and associated utilities. In addition, the operator will interpret production procedures and follow GMP, safety and environmental practices. The operator will occasionally participate in procedure reviews for process optimization, safety and product quality discussions. This role has rotating shifts 1st, 2nd and 3rd and will require to be able to work all shifts.
Your key responsibilities
- Responsible for the operation and monitoring of all production equipment, that is, reactors, kettles, fermentors, and stills.
- Works independently during off-shifts without direct supervision.
- Recognize equipment malfunctions or unusual processing conditions.
- Monitor chemical processes by performing lab analyses using GC, bio-analyser, titrations, HPLC, pH meter and microscope and interpret analytical data.
- Complete written production batch records and complete material mass balance.
- Maintain good housekeeping per GMP’s by keeping production areas clean.

You bring
- High School Diploma or equivalent, as a minimum, three (3) years' experience in a chemical-processing environment.
- Knowledgeable in the operation of all production equipment (reactors, kettles, fermentors, and stills), PLC (DeltaV) preferred.
- Preferred lab analysis and basic bio-chemical processing to include: Sterile transfer techniques to maintain aseptic conditions, acid-base chemistry relative to the pH scale, distillation, pressure reactions/oxidations and handling hazardous chemical.
- Must provide continuous support for safety, environmental and GMP practices.
- Capable of working independently during off-shifts without direct supervision.
- Understanding of wastewater requirements and downstream impact.
