Troubleshoot, repair and maintain manufacturing and facility equipment/machinery in efficient, safe operating condition. Provide guidance and support regarding equipment operation to team members in order to facilitate the achievement of scheduled production volume within acceptable safety, quality and scrap levels.
May perform other duties as assigned.

III. NATURE & SCOPE
Champion Laboratories, Inc. is a full-line filter manufacturer with primary facilities located in Southern Illinois, South Carolina, Michigan, California, Europe and China. The sales and marketing operations of Champion Laboratories are headquartered in Albion, IL. Through the use of a direct sales force, independent manufacturer’s agents, and in some cases direct account responsibility, automotive, light truck, and heavy duty filters and related products are sold and distributed worldwide.
IV. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Interprets drawings, operation manuals, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics and/or manufacturer’s specifications.
Diagnoses problems with production machinery and equipment and determines how to correct them. Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains all types of machines and equipment, including conveyors, presses, programmable logic controllers, and electrical/electronic circuitry.
Keeps machinery and equipment in efficient, safe operating condition in order to maintain quality and production standards.
Performs total predictive maintenance and preventative maintenance to ensure machines and systems run smoothly and efficiently.
Schedules and performs machine teardown to make repairs and modifications. May dismantle, move, install and erect equipment.
May operate various types of equipment related to maintenance functions, such as forklift, welders, and cutting torches.
Promotes teamwork and contributes to team efforts by communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Keeps supervision informed of any problems associated with maintenance activities, and takes action to provide support for resolution of problems and continuous improvement. Aids in training employees in maintenance-related duties.
Performs general housekeeping tasks and keeps work area clean, organized and free of scrap, debris, etc.
V. MINIMUM SELECTION CRITERIA
Education/Experience:
Broad knowledge of various trade fundamentals, with specialized trade skills in either the electrical or mechanical area.
Education and/or experience equivalent to 3-5 years applied training in mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting and repair of industrial equipment/machinery. For positions with electrical emphasis, education and/or experience with electrical troubleshooting and repair of 3-phase, 480 volt equipment and programmable logic controllers or comparable equipment.
Communication:
Basic communication skills to receive and convey information concerning problems encountered while performing job duties and to train employees with less proficiency.
In-person interaction with co-workers and supervisors.
Learning/Reading/Mathematical Comprehension:
Understand relatively complex principles and techniques related to primary occupation.
Perform basic math functions such as addition and subtraction using whole numbers and decimals and utilize mathematical formulas to determine dimensions, take measurements, calculate angles, etc.
Read and write to access information on the computer, complete required paperwork, and interpret documents.
Learn and comprehend standard operating procedures and basic production techniques.
Independent judgment to troubleshoot, audit and changeover various types of equipment.
Visual Requirements:
Distinguish between various items for proper length, width, shape, color and other characteristics.
Read various digital and dial measuring instruments.
Motor Skills:
Hand/eye coordination to use hand tools and to operate various gauges and measuring devices.
Stand, squat, kneel and bend for long periods of time regularly. Move between various work stations frequently.
Push/pull and reach with hands and arms frequently. Flexibility to safely position body in unique positions.
Lift/push/pull up to 30 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. frequently.
Environment:
Work in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, possible temperature extremes, dirt, solvents, paper dust, etc.
Special Skills:

Safely operate powered industrial equipment as required by Powered Industrial Equipment Program to acquire and maintain license, when required.
Dependability:
Maintain satisfactory record of attendance and conduct. Work any shift and overtime as required.
