We are currently seeking a Senior Vice President of Accounting, based out of our Copperfield headquarters (NW Houston).
This person has the responsibility to assist with and oversee the daily functions of the Accounting Department which requires preparation of vouchers, recording all entries in the primary cash settlement account (including deposits in process, outstanding checks, ATM, sharedraft and corporate check clearings), general ledger entries and reconciliations, subsidiaries, wires, and member requested items. Performs daily End-of-Day balancing. Assists in the accurate recording and maintenance of all investment accounts.
Assists in the preparation of financial reports and related monthly reports. Assists Credit Union employees with the preparation of month-end reports. Preparation of monthly financial reports includes: balancing and posting various month-end adjustments, such as: accrued and deferred income and expenses, depreciation of fixed assets, and dividend and interest expense associated with member deposits; balancing subsidiary ledgers and other source documents to general ledger accounts; verifying general ledger balances for which other departments are responsible; producing financial reports in proper format for presentation to the Board of Directors.
Reconciles all bank statements and verifies accurate posting to affected general ledger accounts; specifically, Federal Reserve and Catalyst Corporate FCU.
Handles all aspects of filing Bond Claims including reimbursement, reconciling the general ledger account, filing reports with the appropriate authorities, keeping a record of unused Plastic card deductible, etc.
Places stop payments on corporate checks and performs file maintenance in check registers. Orders check copies from Catalyst Corporate FCU. Responsible for Check Reconciliation file maintenance and reconciliation at month end.
Receives member requests for outgoing wire transfers and forwards information to appropriate accounting staff.
Responsible for proper balancing of General Ledger subsidiary accounts as assigned by supervisor.
Audits bills weekly to ensure that the appropriate general ledgers are being utilized and that expenditures have been appropriately expensed or capitalized and deferred.
