What are the responsibilities and job description for the Client Relationship Banker position at First Merchants Brand?

Position Goals:

Complete goals on individual and team sales metrics for the banking center to achieve the strategic and tactical goals of the company.  Serve as a primary point of contact in the banking center for sales and services requests.  Exceed personal production goals and deliver a meaningful client experience.  Lead new account acquisition activities and participate in outbound calling activities to increase market share.  Prospect, generate, process and close consumer loans.  Engage with the management team in business banking activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide high quality customer service on a wide variety of general banking matters.
    1. Assess client’s financial position to identify additional relationship opportunities.
    2. Consult with staff on checks for cashing; accept and process stop payment orders.
    3. Assist clients in reconciliation of accounts, answer questions and resolve complaints.
    4. Engage team members and business partners to assist clients with a variety of personal and business banking needs. Perform lobby management responsibilities.
  2. Drive banking center productivity and growth through the following responsibilities:
    1. Develop and implement sales tactics to drive consumer deposit, loan growth, and household acquisition.
    2. Achieve all partner referral and appointment goals monthly.
    3. Actively participate in teleconsulting activities including call blocks and call nights.
    4. Participate and take ownership of the results of all marketing campaigns and promotions.
    5. Fully capitalize on referrals from team members and leads from business partners.
    6. Utilize guided conversation in the client profiling tool to deepen client relationships and deliver the whole bank.
    7. Convert service and problem resolution opportunities to sales opportunities to deepen client relationships and increase share of wallet.
    8. Utilize digital tools to provide education and help clients enroll in and utilize electronic banking products and services during account onboarding.
    9. Complete all new account onboarding calls and activities in a timely fashion.
    10. Exceed all established individual and team sales goals.
    11. Participate in outbound calling activities to increase market share. Outbound calling activities include but are not limited to First Direct presentations, partnership with community organizations, HSA presentations, Business Banking Calls and additional partner calls.
  3. Assist with sales and service leadership.
    1. Support associates in the attainment of individual and team sales and service goals.
    2. Fully engage in the sales management process including, but not limited to leading daily huddles, weekly sales meetings, touch bases and coaching sessions.
    3. Utilize client relationship management tool (CRM) and other sales tools to record, track and maintain sales records for the incentive plan.
    4. Monitor and resolve deposit and loan exceptions in a timely fashion to ensure compliance and improve client experience.
    5. Train, coach, and guide staff with operational and sales skills.
  4. Comply with information and physical security policies including consumer and business verification procedures.
  5. Attend and/or complete applicable and required training sessions.
  6. Understand and ensure compliance for regulations and reporting, including but not limited to: BSA, OFAC, CIP, EDD, etc.
  7. Adhere to and participate in completing the branch daily security checklist including items such as assisting with operational aspects of the banking center; control opening and closing of the banking center, conduct audits, and banking center balancing.

Position Requirements:

Education -       High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Experience -     Over two (2) years of banking, sales, or related experience to include selling products or services; or, if Bachelor’s degree, then demonstrated leadership or goal achievement in related school activities or internships.

License -           This position requires S.A.F.E Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). Employees hired or transferring into this position will need to meet the qualification requirements within three (3) months of hire.

Other -              Obtain Notary Public designation within six (6) months of employment. 

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for long periods of time and move freely about the office.

Ability to lift files, open file cabinets, bending, and stooping.

Ability to ambulate fingers to utilize office equipment such as a computer, phone, printer, etc.

Preferred Requirements:

Prior banking experience

Bachelor’s degree

Demonstrated ability to sell and cross-sell banking products and services
