First Resources of Ottumwa is searching for a dedicated Full-time Human Resources Coordinator.

Assists the Director of Human Resources with policy creation, revision and implementation.Works in conjunction with the Human Resources Director and other members of the Human Resources team. Is trusted as an accurate source of information as confirmed by personnel reports

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Essential Job Functions:

  • Represents the Human Resources function in conducting internal investigations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to conduct in depth interviews to identify problems related to allegations of violations of the agency's policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Makes recommendations in regards to defining the confirmation or denial of the allegations, as well as helping determine the resolution to the issue.
  • Maintain outstanding customer service for First Resources employees by responding timely, thoughtfully, and accurately to employee-submitted questions. Follow-up with employees as needed.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect corporate operations by keeping human resource information confidential.
  • Provides on-going advice, coaching, and policy interpretation to management and team members to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Will be a backup for handling and assisting with the FMLA process.
  • Supports actions to ensure function operates within all company and government rules, regulations, compliance and procedures.
  • Schedule and participate in administrative staff meetings. Prepare agendas, reports, presentations, proposals, correspondence, and meeting notes as requested.
  • Manage the internship program
  • Will be a backup for handling and assisting with exit interviews.
  • Completes and delivers evaluations of designated staff within established timelines. Provides ongoing timely feedback on performance and addresses performance concerns.
  • Responsible to maintain the highest level of confidentiality always.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and work effectively with people.
  • Ability to travel at least 15% of the time and to work occasional evenings and weekends for meetings and/or events.
  • Ability to be flexible as the job may require late working hours outside of the normal business hours or filling vacant shifts.
  • Performs other related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position, as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field, otherwise education with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Prior two-years' experience in HR setting.
  • Must have access to a telephone.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of computers and computer-based programs.
  • Ability to embrace rapid change, meet multiple demands simultaneously and efficiently with little supervision.
  • The ability to clearly communicate in oral and written fashion is required. Excellent customer service skills are essential.
  • The HR Coordinator will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
  • The HR Coordinator may be located in a busy, open area office, and will be faced with regular interruptions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be willing to use personal vehicle when needed for work-related events and must be willing to transport members in personal or company vehicle when needed.
  • Have the ability to travel independently, extensively in and outside the community and access a variety of offices.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds without restrictions. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
  • Successfully complete the new hire orientation checklist.
  • Satisfactorily attend all required trainings mandated by programming and the organization.
  • Successfully complete the established medication administration training and pass medications accordingly.
  • Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within the initial 30 days of employment, and actively maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Must have valid driver's license and personal auto insurance as required by the State of Iowa and be insurable under the company's insurance.
  • Satisfactory results on background checks pertaining to criminal and abuse registries.
