Job Purpose
Develops daily schedules for the RTC Para-transit service program. Generates an optimization
report to identify "slack time" and scheduling efficiencies per route and generally review each
manifest prior to the daily print production.

Our Schedulers are responsible for:
- Runs daily performance reports, per run, to determine each run's "slack time" and efficiencies
- Manages all U-zone trips. Places and schedules u-zone trips onto routes based on the hour
before and hour after the requested time. Calls customer with scheduled pick up time and
notes the call in tracker notes. Focuses on high productivity and 0 denials. Communicates to
RTC Scheduling Supervisor and FT management daily what additions if any may be needed
for next day service. - Suggests possible alternative scheduling in order to gain optimal efficiency and customer
service. - Review schedules as generated by RTC and coordinates the generation of printed copies for
dispatch and the drivers. - Monitors "troubled" schedules and attempts to research causative events with the assistance
of our Field/Road Supervisors. Works to maintain a high level of on-time performance for all
scheduled runs. - Maintains open lines of communication with the RTC scheduling function concerning route
problems, and any unusual circumstances regarding routes or manifests. - Develops, produces, and analyzes a variety of reports, recommending service and procedural
changes when appropriate. - Works with RTC customer service staff to resolve customer scheduling problems, responding
to customer inquiries and communicating with RTC staff. - Prepares daily Driver Assignment Sheet (DAS) and Drivers Extra-Board Schedule.
- Appropriately responds to drivers' requests for time-off as to avoid service interruptions.
- Schedules and administers routes for special FT work assignments.
- Assists Radio and Window dispatchers by providing daily lists.
- Prepares appropriate response(s) to written communications from operators regarding
scheduling issues. Meets with vehicle operators when there are persistent complaints about
specific routes. - Reviews the standing order database, monitors cancellations, and offers possible alternatives
to current scheduling practices to optimize overall customer productivity. - Works closely with union members and follows the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
To qualify as a Scheduler, you'll need:
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Technical degree preferred
- 2 years experience in an operations environment, preferably a dispatch or operational function.
- 2 years experience in a customer service position.
- 2 years experience in data entry and computer applications with a high degree of accuracy,
thoroughness, analytical skills, and the necessity to work under time pressure. - Ability to work the late afternoon through late evening, weekends, and holiday shifts.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to manage time effectively.
- Must be self-motivated and able to achieve satisfaction from self-recognition of accomplishment.
