The Position

Job TitleBusiness Development Officer

Job Description

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for accomplishing business growth objectives by attracting new retail business and expanding current customer relationships resulting in growth of the retail portfolio. Designs, develops, and implements calling programs to attract new customers in the business community.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Demonstrates and promotes high ethical standards and behaviors in accordance with the values of First United: knowing, living, and doing what's right.
  • Builds strong internal and external partnerships to identify business development opportunities.
  • Evaluates the needs of potential customers and proactively offers ideas and solutions to assist in meeting their needs.
  • Achieves net deposit growth goals and expectations through the development of new business and growing current business.
  • Makes retention and business development calls on existing and potential new clients.
  • Partners with Community Bank President to implement community bank plans to achieve specified loan generation, deposit growth, product sales, cross-selling, relationship development and retention goals.
  • Demonstrates advanced product and sales knowledge of all retail and small business products including but not limited to cash management and electronic services.
  • Develops and recommends Marketing and Advertising strategies in market.
  • Works with community non-profit organizations on various projects as needed.
  • Documents business development calls and referrals in Salesforce on a weekly basis.
  • Represents the bank in various civic and community functions in order to build the bank brand, enhance the bank's image and develop new business.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as requested by Executive Management or Supervisor.
  • Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.
  • Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.
  • Dresses professionally.
  • Recommends to supervisor possible methods to improve department.

EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, marketing or related field preferred.
  • Two to three years work experience in a related field.
  • Banking or financial industry experience preferred.
  • Sales or Marketing experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of financial institution policies and procedures.
  • Good communication, sales, and public relations skills.
  • Good interviewing and research skills.

  • Demonstrates a high level integrity and ethics.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, problem-solving, and decision making skills.
  • Ability and willingness to take the lead in development and completion of a wide range of projects.
  • Computer and Software proficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to communicate well with customers by all means of communication including written, verbal, and non-verbal communication.
  • Dependable and adheres to time lines and schedules.
