Job Reporting Relationships Supervised by: Consumer Underwriting Manager Supervises: None Basic Qualifications Education/Training: A high school diploma or equivalent; obtain and maintain appropriate Bank Product Knowledge Certification. Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; knowledge of loan documentation requirements; ability to learn and effectively utilize software tools; visual and auditory skills. Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ related experience normally required. General Responsibilities Responsible for delivering completed credit investigation packages to the Underwriter as soon as possible using automated credit investigation software; performing assigned underwriting duties;
coordinating work within the department as well as with other departments; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information. Responsible for underwriting consumer
installment loans under $50,000.
Essential Duties 1. Delivers completed credit investigation packages to the Underwriter as soon as possible using automated credit investigation software of which the following are illustrative: a. Prepares credit investigation documentation as appropriate. b. Prepares declination letters, if necessary. c. Prepares commitment letters and submits to underwriter for review. d. Prepares monthly and annual reports.
e. Prepares consumer loan documents, including Installment Loans, Real Estate Secured Loans, Time and Demand Loans, Personal Credit Lines, Home Equity Lines, and Equipment Loans. f. Provides back up for HEL documentation. g. Prepares loans for Underwriter. h. Orders flood, appraisal, title exam. i. Ensures consumer loan packages have the correct disclosures, security agreements, third party guarantor agreements, promissory notes, flood hazard
certificates and appraisals. j. Obtains Census Track and Block Identification for HMDA reporting. k. Performs other related duties as assigned. 2. Underwrites consumer loans and performs a variety of other duties to support the banks consumer lending function of which
the following are illustrative: a. Reviews loan application and financial information for completeness; follows up on any missing documentation. b. Conducts collateral and other analyses as needed to render a credit decision. c. Underwrites direct consumer loans for branches. d. Prepares loan presentation for submission to loan committee if request is beyond authority. e. Ensures the satisfactory and prompt delivery of all loan underwriting decisions. f. Communicates alternative financing options to the branch personnel. g. Notifies branch personnel of decision, requests for additional information, and conditions of approval. h. Participates in new consumer loan product development and implementation. k. Conducts loan training for branch/ bank personnel as needed. l. Performs other related duties as assigned. 3. Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information. 4. Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior
in the workplace. 5. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's
compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Reg B), Flood Disaster Protection Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (Reg C), etc. 6. Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides
data to appropriate bank personnel.
7. Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other bank personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy. 8. Ability to grasp technology quickly and be able to provide feedback to software vendors.Ancillary Duties 1.
