Summary of the Youth Director Position
- A professed commitment to Jesus Christ that is demonstrated through Christian growth and a model of spiritual leadership and lifestyle in personal, ministry and family life.
- A commitment to the pastors and staff of First UMC, Millville
- Supports the ministry of First UMC Millville through regular prayer, financial giving, and attendance of church activities and events.
- The Youth Director must be able to engage the youth of the church, as well as outside youth, and provide them with the necessary spiritual guidance that will direct them toward the path of Christian adulthood.
- The Director must not only provide spiritual guidance but must be able to
assist with the concerns of the average youth/young adult.
- Director must be able to efficiently interact with not only the youth of the church but with the body of the church as a whole.
- The Youth Director's primary purpose is to lead the children to Christ, maintain their
relationship with Christ, provide them with the information to lead Christian lives, and eventually create a lasting relationship with the church.
Weekly/Regular Duties
Junior High Youth Group - In coordination with Pastoral staff, planning and implementing, age-appropriate activities, studies, missions, and recreation focused on building a foundation of faith for youth in the Junior High grades and ages. Duties may include teaching to preaching, counseling to support, through the use of scripture, video, and games/recreation.
Senior High Youth Group - In coordination with Pastoral staff, planning and implementing, age-appropriate activities, studies, missions, and recreation focused on building a foundation of
faith for youth in the Senior High grades and ages. Duties may include teaching to preaching,
counseling to support, through the use of scripture, video, and games/recreation.
Parent Connection - To maintain coordination and communication with parents throughout the
year to make sure they have been properly informed of all activities and upcoming events as well as growth opportunities in the church. Keep them informed of up-and-coming trends and concerns with the youth culture.
Underground Church - presently offered on Thursday nights (7-9 PM). Worship service for
Young Adults which incorporates teaching, preaching, and inspiration. Duties include planning.
directing and incorporating volunteers and guest speakers in the Worship Service.
Young Adult Sunday School Class - Plan, facilitate, and implement Bible studies targeted to the
Young Adult ages 18-29. Studies will assist members in furthering their faith walk.
Attendance during Sunday School hours - Assist Sunday school team when needed in
classroom instruction, guidance, support, and planning.
Young Adult Ministry Pathway - Develop and implement a Pathway to build and maintain young
adult connections in the church as well as the community.
Weekly office hours - aiding in church activity planning, attending weekly staff meetings and keeping the church informed of what the youth and young adults are doing.
Discipleship Pathways - Build and maintain discipleship pathways with all youth from cradle to graduation that will lead to baptism, confirmation, and membership to the church, with the goal being that they would become disciples of Christ wanting to make disciples.
Partner - with Pastoral Staff to find meaningful ways for Youth and Young Adults to serve in a variety of ministry areas within the church.
Social Media/Church Website - Share events, information, and needs for the youth/young adults via the internet (Instagram, Facebook, church website, GroupMe).

- Fundraiser events (Midwinter Advance, Mission project, plus additional fundraisers)
- Special occasion events (Lock-in, church clean-up days, movie nights)
- Aiding in any youth-related events when needed (VBS, SHINE)
Occasional Duties
- Maintain healthy availability via phone, text, email, and in-person for counseling and
support of Youth and Family.
- Participation in Scholarship Committee meetings and Graduation Sunday
- Letters of recommendation for job, scholarship, and college applications for the youth
- Event attendance at plays, musicals, sporting events, Mr. Milville, Miss Holly City, etc.
- Appropriately monitor social media websites involving youth
- Monthly Leadership meetings to coordinate upcoming events
- Monitoring and adjusting youth budget as necessary
- Recruiting volunteer help and training them to perform tasks needed
- Seek the support of the Church body to assist as needed
- Attend as needed Church Team meetings
- Other duties as assigned

- CPR/AED certified (basic knowledge of first aid)
- Effective communication skills with both youth and adults
- Must be active in church/church activities

- Must be able to balance outside obligations/commitments

Salary
Compensation for this position will vary based upon education and ministry experience.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21,000.00 - $26,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 24 – 30 per week
