About the Opportunity
This is an open position with Penelec, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp, in our Altoona Service Center. [PN]
Responsibilities for the position are as follows:
- Does the most complicated construction, installation, maintenance, and repair work on dead or energized conductors, structures, and equipment.
- Does switching and sectionalizing and traces and corrects grounds and short or open circuits.
- Determines phase and make proper connections for phase rotation.
- Installs and connects any or all types of transformers, meters and services.
- Make load and voltage tests.
- Patrols transmission and distribution lines, inspects related equipment, and re-fuses transformers as directed.
- Maintains clearances on fences, roads, bridges rights-of-way, or wire when necessary or does any work in the setting and maintenance of poles and lines.
- Assists in the transportation, moving or erection of any equipment or material, and operates any equipment as required.
- Directs the work of and instructs those who may be assigned to assist from time to time.
- Is responsible for the observance of all safety rules and electrical protection orders and sees that clearance has been established when necessary.
Installs and connects recording instruments and changes charts on the same, giving service and meter locations, investigating complaints and correcting, as far as possible, the condition causing same.
In addition to the above and other related work of similar grade, may be assigned to any other work of equal or lesser skill within the capabilities of the individual, to meet emergencies or other operating needs, including incidental clerical duties.
