The Imaging Service Engineer I works in the Corporate Biomedical Services Department, which is responsible for the maintenance and management of medical equipment and systems throughout FirstHealth of the Carolinas and to contracted customers. Work activities performed by the Imaging Service Engineer I include but are not limited to preventive maintenance inspections and medical equipment repairs with emphasis on patient safety, customer service, regulatory compliance and cost containment.
Education and Formal Training:
Associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics Engineering or related field preferred. Equivalent military training or significant industry work experience accepted.
Work Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience servicing medical imaging technology in a hospital or field service setting. The experience requirement is typically waived for candidates who have completed internships in medical imaging equipment support or for candidates who have experience servicing biomedical equipment and meet all other requirements.
Certification:
· CRES – ACI Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist certification is not required for the position of Imaging Engineer I. Incumbents are strongly encouraged to pursue this certification
· Other industry certifications, such as CompTIA A , Net , or Security are encouraged.
Additional Skills:
· Basic troubleshooting skills, including the use of service manuals, electronic documentation, test equipment, and diagnostic software. Experience with troubleshooting computers and IT related systems, along with a basic understanding of networking fundamentals
· Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
· Good mechanical skills
· Computer skills including use of email, spreadsheets, word processing, and computerized maintenance management systems and reporting
· Strong customer service, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
· Ability to quickly adjust to meet customer needs, including working on unassigned equipment and assisting other technicians
· Basic understanding of State and Federal radiation safety standards
· Basic x-ray fundamentals skills, normally acquired through courses taught by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), or 3rd party training providers such as RSTI or Tri-Imaging
· Valid Driver’s license required.
