Position Summary:
FirstLine Schools is currently seeking talented, passionate certified Talented Theater teachers at our K-8 schools and our high school. At FirstLine Schools, we know that it is the effectiveness of our teachers that matters the most when it comes to impacting the success of our students. To ensure that we are an organization of excellent teachers, we expect our teachers to demonstrate effectiveness through our Vision of Teaching Excellence. Teachers will be responsible for implementing the teaching curriculum, ensuring the success of our students, and working with a team of teachers within the school and network community.
Position Responsibilities:
• Successfully implements integrated instruction with focus on gifted arts
• Instructs students in the elements of individual and group dramatic interpretation
• Encourages student creativity, vocabulary development, and acting theory
• Assesses needs of students and evaluates student achievement
• Participates in faculty committees and professional development as required
• Actively participates in the continuing development of school-wide curriculum, school structures, and school culture as we expand to full capacity
• Is committed to working with a diverse student population
• Creates and utilizes alternative assessment tools.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- 2 or more years of experience as an theater teacher in a school-based setting
- Demonstrated success working with students in an urban, open admissions school
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- A strong background in and command of subject area
- Louisiana State Certification in Talented Theater (required)

Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear.
- Light lifting of equipment may be required (up to 20 lbs.)
TALENTED THEATER TEACHER reports to: Special Education Coordinator
