Position: Recreation Facility Monitor

Reports to: Sports and RecreationManager

Location: Ladera Ranch, CA



SUMMARY:
The Recreation Facility Monitor will be responsible for monitoring and reporting the use of and access to the following recreation facilities in Ladera Ranch: Community Sports Fields, Terramor Water Park, and Ladera Ranch Skate Park.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Including but are not limited to the following:

General

  • Monitor the use of each facility, ensuring adherence to all posted rules and regulations.
  • Be visible and accessible for residents, guests, and facility users who have questions or concerns regarding the use of the facility.
  • Conduct daily visual inspection of each facility to ensure that it can be safely used by residents, guests, and permitted users.
  • Provide regular reports via email or hard copy with detailed information on attendance, facility use, or recorded incidents.
  • Community Sports Fields (Field Monitor)
  • Field Monitor may be stationed at Cox Sports Park or travel between various sports fields and parks throughout the Ladera Ranch community.
  • Diligently monitors the permitted users at each facility, ensuring that facility time and location are being used according to the issued permit, and that rules and regulations are being followed.
  • Ensures the appropriate use of LARMAC owned sports equipment (soccer goals, nets, corner flags, bases, etc.), including proper storage when not in use.
  • Walks each field, checking for any safety, maintenance, or landscape issues that must be addressed. Reports all issues to Sports Field Use Manager.
  • May resolve conflict between permitted and unpermitted users, or between two permitted users.
  • Uses reasoning and judgment to provide a conflict solution.

Ladera Ranch Skate Park

  • Operates the Skate Park attendant booth, controlling access into the skate park gates.
  • Ensures that each skate park user has a valid Skate Park access card or guest pass. Informs those without proper access cards on the process to obtain one.
  • Monitors the use of the skate park facility, making sure that all users wear appropriate safety gear and are using the facility according to safety standards.
  • Ensures that posted skate park rules are followed by users at all times.

Terramor Water Park (Seasonal – summer)

  • Operates the Water Park attendant booth, controlling access into the water park gates.
  • Ensures that each water park user has a valid resident access card or is a guest of a resident.
  • Working with the pool attendants, monitors the safe use of the water park facility, ensuring that posted water park rules are followed by all users at all times.
  • Immediately reports any safety, maintenance, or other issues to the Sports Field Use Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exceptional customer service skills are required.
  • Use of a vehicle, including a valid driver's license and insurance is required.
  • The ability to work efficiently, diligently, and independently without constant direct supervision is required.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and verbalize detailed reports, both electronically and in hard copy.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications including the use of spreadsheets, email, and word processing.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge and experience in sports and recreation is preferred.
  • Completion of some college course work is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Proficiency in English required.
Bilingual in Spanish or other language is helpful but not required.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
General math skills may be required.


REASONING ABILITY:
Must have excellent reasoning abilities to resolve concerns, answer questions, and resolve conflictsquickly and independently.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Drivers License and State Mandated Vehicle Insurance


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate tosuccessfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made toenable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Must be able to lift 35lbs.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and move for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to move and walk on various surfaces including grass, dirt, small hills, concrete, and stairs.
  • Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard.
  • Due to the customer service nature of this position, must be able to communicate verbally with residents, guests and co-workers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics include normal office conditions and outdoor facilities withpossible exposure to sun, heat, and cold. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enableindividuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


This is a part time position. General hours are around 20-25 hours per week during summer (MemorialDay – Labor Day), and 10 – 20 hours during the remainder of the year.


Morning and Afternoon shifts are available.
Work on weekends and holidays is expected and will also occur.
Consistent and regular attendance required.
