GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manages the development and execution of national benefits strategy in addition to administering the general benefit programs, i.e., health care, short-term disability, long-term disability, optional life, and supplemental plans.
• Develops programs designed to keep employees informed about company benefit plans and any proposed changes.
• Ensures the overall vision and objectives for health care, supplemental plans, 401(k) and all other benefit-related programs are clearly stated and integrated into day-to-day work as well as long and short term projects.
• Ensures programs are current with regard to trends, practices and costs.
• Negotiates coverage, services and costs with carriers and brokers.
• Interacts with others in areas, such as the risk management or legal departments, to investigate innovative programs, e.g., self-insurance to determine feasibility in terms of cost, risk to the company and legal implications.
• Offers an innovative and creative approach to address current and future benefit needs of employees.
• Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
• Researches competitive practices and analyzes data to evaluate benefit program metrics.
• In order to control costs, maintains thorough knowledge of cost elements of various plans for reporting as well as for determining any additional program enhancements to adopt.
• Assists in benchmark analysis as needed.
• Reviews and interprets legislative requirements for all plans.
• Develops appropriate policy and administrative guidelines ensuring government optimum compliance.
• Facilitates the process of updating plan documents and summary plan descriptions.
• Acts as a point of contact for escalations pertaining to complex benefits matters.
• Administers and ensures compliance with FIS Retirement and Profit Sharing plans.
• Develops and executes well planned communication strategies to educate all team members and employees on the various benefits options, wellness focuses and legal rights.
• Leverages technology to simplify internal processes, minimize paperwork and limit delays in processing.
• Actively participates in professional associations to stay abreast of industry related activities. Shares relevant knowledge and information with benefits team, HR department and any other appropriate parties.
• Other related duties assigned as needed.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in business or human resources or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience. PHR designation preferred.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Familiarity with group health and retirement benefits
• Working knowledge of legal requirements related to the administration of employee benefits
• Demonstrated influence and partnering skills (with Field HR, Labor teams, Finance partners, vendor relationships)
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
• Strong analytical skills including PC financial modeling are essential
• Oral and written communication skills relating to all management levels, vendors and plan participants
• Ability to work in a team environment
FIS JOB LEVEL DESCRIPTION
Career level management role. Works under general direction of middle or senior level HR management. Conduct analyses of benefits programs in order to evaluate external competitiveness and legal compliance of the organization's benefit practices. Research benefit plans and providers and make recommendations. Develop benefit programs and may assist in the administration of programs. Review benefit costs to ensure compliance with the organization's budget. Resolve issues and contribute to the business unit/area development. Manage the work efforts of supervisors/individual contributors with responsibility for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews. Broad knowledge of the field with strong leadership skills. Typically requires six or more years of experience and at least one year of leadership responsibility.
