Job Description

We are FIS. Our technology powers the world's economy and our teams bring innovation to life. We champion diversity to deliver the best products and solutions for our colleagues, clients and communities. If you're ready to start learning, growing and making an impact with a career in fintech, we'd like to know: Are you FIS?

About the role:

FIS provides a leading in-house payment management platform (SaaS - Software as a Service) that serves high-volume merchants such as Netflix, Overstock.com, GoDaddy, and many more. At FIS, we know that our platform is only as good as the people behind it. We are looking for talented people who are eager to learn about our technology and, more importantly, about the details that make our business tick. As a Development Manager, your skills will be at the core of changing the way the world pays, banks, and invests. You'll plan and manage application development and client delivery activities that range from small, simple software applications to components of large, complex software applications.

About the team:
We consistently develop and deliver new features onto our live platform. This platform handles millions of merchant transactions around the clock while delivering a robust feature set aimed at boosting our merchant's payments capabilities. These features, along with our ability to consistently deliver them, make us stand out in the highly competitive payments business. Our engineering team is critical to our mission; we are fundamentally a technology company. We succeed by offering innovative features to our merchants while retaining the reliability, quality, and fault tolerance they require.

Future platform development work utilizes microservices, cloud-based architecture with best of breed technologies to promote easier scaling and maintenance. The development environment aims to continually improve as new technologies are considered for the purpose of gains made in efficiency or effectiveness. Service codebases rely on a large suite of automated tests to help find defects early in the life cycle. Software development teams have true ownership of the services as they build, release, and operate.

What you will be doing:
  • Own the responsibility of hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews.
  • Design and develop applications through the full software development lifecycle following Agile principles.
  • Estimate feature deliverables based on team velocity and capacity, arriving at a consensus on committed deliverables scheduled within a Program Increment.
  • Align engineering efforts with the team's Product Owner, incorporating Agile ceremonies with engagement from the team's Scrum Master.
  • Promote software engineering best practices, referencing our lean SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) for guidance.

What you will need:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record of delivering software projects on time, preferably in an Agile environment (5 years).
  • Experience collaborating with teams distributed across multiple work locations (including international)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, time management and organizational skills, conflict management skills.
  • Ability to bring together a diverse group of engineers and build a highly performing team focused on delivering value to our merchants in a positive growth-oriented environment.

Added bonus if you have:
  • MBA degree
  • Experience with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)
  • Experience as a Scrum Master

What we offer you:
At FIS, you can grow your career as far as you want to take it. Here's what else we offer:
• Opportunities to make an impact in fintech
• Personal and professional learning
• Inclusive, diverse work environment
• Resources to give back to your community
• Competitive salary and benefits
