The Cloud Networking Architect designs, deploys, and supports large cloud environments. The individual must proactively provide technical support in areas, such as network automation, software-defined networks (SDN), VPN, local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network security platforms, and load-balancing technologies within cloud architectures.
Architects must evaluate, reexamine, and hone proposals and designs for network architecture and interact with third-party architects to customize designs when decisions are taken. They must interact cross-functionally to improve the cloud infrastructure.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Documents and publishes appropriate architecture principles and standards, position papers, blueprints, best practices, patterns, and frameworks.
- Defines, constructs, supports, and provides training for enterprise frameworks.
- Defines and maintains a library of functional component models within and across Worldpay product lines.
- Defines network architecture roadmap with an eye to future trends and technologies.
- Maintains and trains Engineering and Operations teams on a catalog of predefined design solutions available for new projects.
- Reviews functional and technical designs to identify areas of risk and/or missing requirements.
- Communicates network architecture to technical and business audiences.
- Other related duties assigned as needed.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience. Post-graduate education desired.
- Networking Certifications in AWS and/or Azure Cloud a strong plus
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- In depth knowledge of cloud native networking constructs - how and where each should and should not be used and the limitations of each construct.
- In depth knowledge of a board range of network design, configuration, operations and administration.
- In depth knowledge of network communications fundamentals ex: IP, TCP, DNS, SNMP, routing protocols
- Knowledge of network technologies, i.e., routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, network and routing protocols, VPN, SDWAN
- Knowledge of deployment methodologies for multi-tier applications
- Knowledge of basic IT technologies, i.e., operating systems, network devices, software development and architecture
- Knowledge of data network architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols
- Excellent customer service skills that build high levels of customer satisfaction for internal and external clients
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors
- Willingly shares relevant technical and/or industry knowledge and expertise to other resources
- Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, team and time management skills
- Is resourceful and proactive in gathering information and sharing ideas
- Proven project management skills
