Job Summary:

As a Fishing Charter Mate, you will be an integral part of our team, assisting the captain in ensuring the success and enjoyment of our fishing charters. You will work closely with guests, providing guidance, assistance, and expertise in all aspects of the fishing experience, while also maintaining safety protocols and vessel upkeep.

Responsibilities:

1. Guest Assistance: Assist guests with fishing equipment setup, baiting hooks, casting, and reeling in catches. Provide instruction and guidance to novice anglers to enhance their fishing experience.

2. Fishing Gear Maintenance: Maintain and organize fishing equipment, including rods, reels, lines, and tackle. Ensure all gear is in proper working condition and ready for use before each charter.

3. Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and regulations to ensure the well-being of guests and crew members at all times. Conduct safety briefings and demonstrations as needed.

4. Boat Maintenance: Assist in routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning and minor repairs. Monitor equipment and report any issues to the captain for prompt resolution.

5. Customer Service: Provide friendly and professional customer service to guests, addressing any questions or concerns they may have throughout the charter. Strive to exceed guest expectations and create memorable experiences.

6. Knowledge Sharing: Share your passion for fishing and local marine life with guests, offering insights into the area's ecosystem, fish species, and best fishing practices.

7. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the captain and fellow crew members to ensure efficient operation of the vessel and seamless execution of charters. Communicate effectively and assist as needed in various tasks onboard.

Qualifications:

1. Previous experience in recreational fishing, preferably in a charter or guide capacity. 2. Strong knowledge of fishing techniques, equipment, and local fishing grounds.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly demeanor when interacting with guests. 4. Proficiency in boat handling and navigation basics is advantageous.

5. Ability to work long hours in a dynamic, outdoor environment, often in varying weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods. 2. Comfort working on a moving vessel and in potentially rough sea conditions.
3. Good swimming skills and confidence in water-based environments.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 25 per week

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
  • 12 hour shift
  • 4 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Weekends as needed
