Camp Olmsted, a sleepaway and day camp in Cornwall-on-Hudson, is actively recruiting enthusiastic and vibrant individuals for an exciting summer opportunity in 2023.
Our camp is searching for candidates who possess a genuine love for working with children and a desire to acquire valuable experience in a camp setting while developing essential skills. This position is a residential position.
General Responsibilities
· Maintains order and safety in swimming areas and assists in enforcing pool policies.
· Ensures and provides a safe, healthy & clean pool environment at all times.
· Consistent and vigilant monitoring of the pool is required.
· Responds quickly, efficiently, and professionally to any emergency.
· Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all pool rules and regulations and can enforce these regulations.
· Prepares aquatic instructional equipment before classes begin and puts it away when lessons have ended.
· Provides corrective and positive feedback to campers to foster a positive learning atmosphere.
· Provides specific directions for swim aides and develops their knowledge, skills, and capability for swim instruction.
· Provides swim instruction to students of all ages, abilities, and skill levels.
· May work in other areas of the camp during inclement weather and hours when the pool is closed.
Qualifications - REQUIRED
- Must be 18 years of age and possess a current Lifeguard / First Aid / CPR/AED
- Must be able to work and reside on our camp facility through August 4th.
- Swim instructor must be in good physical and mental condition to provide lifesaving services.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and respond calmly to high-pressure emergency situations.
- Ability to lift/move, set up, and store equipment and children weighing up to 50 pounds.
Compensation - $2200 for the summer season
PER DIEM RATE negotiable if local.

Experience:
