Project Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
The role of the Project Engineer is to focus on capital equipment projects and will direct sub-contractors and some internal resources. Projects may range from $10k-50M in value.
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
A project engineer must be flexible and able to work well in a fast-paced environment. He or she should be competent in handling simultaneously occurring tasks and smaller projects, and have excellent written and oral communication skills. This position requires analytical and mathematical skills, quick thinking, and a solid understanding of the main principles of engineering. A successful project engineer should also seek out available professional development and continuing education opportunities.
Project Engineering
• Through informal communication and regular meetings, ensure of the compliance of their project with schedule and budget.
• Reviews project proposal or plan with Project Managers to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
• Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
• Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
Engineering
• Should demonstrate a proven knowledge of mechanical engineer concepts and standards such as AWS, ASME, OSHA, NEC, and others.
• Understanding of material handling or conveyor equipment from high volume manufacturing
Scheduling
• Review project schedules to ensure of compliance and feasibility.
• Monitor progress, foresee potential problems, and when required, coordinate corrective actions with parties involved.
Manufacturing, Installation and Commissioning
• Selection and coordination of manufacturing activities.
• Coordination of resources for Installation and Commissioning.
• Construction related problems (commercial and technical).
• Monitor progress and management of final stages to ensure proper closure of projects.
This position will require travel to customer and project sites both domestically and internationally.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Combined 3 years of project engineering with industrial automated equipment
• Bachelor degree in Engineering, Construction Management, related field.
• Strong technical background that should include knowledge of industrial capital equipment & components and a good understanding of cross-functional responsibilities is required.
• Knowledge of industrial equipment including systems such as air handling, heat treatment, piping, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mass transfer, material handling, and air flow
• Ability to adapt to changes and work with people to overcome challenges
• Professional interpersonal skills (oral & written communication and persuasion skills) to build internal and external relationships. Actively listens, probes and identifies concerns. Understands our core customer's business and speaks their language; Develops credibility, loyalty, trust and commitment.
