Piping Designer

Fives DTS is looking for an experienced Mechanical Piping Designer to join our team in the greater Saginaw area.

Summary:

Must be able to work independently and able to draw P&IDs as directed by supervising engineer. Familiar with chemical piping components and materials.

Experience with 3D design a plus. AutoCAD Plant 3D a double plus.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

• Uses 3D modeling software to create piping designs for a variety of clients.
• Prepares piping drawings from P&IDs, field notes, and previous designs.
• Applies standard design techniques and procedures exercising judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications to design concepts.
• Prepares P&IDs as directed by supervising engineer, and prepare/direct preparation of piping layouts, plans, sections, details and isometrics as required by specific project.
• Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and assistance in deriving possible solutions to unusual problems.
• Coordinates and directs the work effort of designers on the same project with some responsibility for checking portions of the completed drawings.
• Attends construction meetings and produces site observation reports and final punch list. May trouble-shoot design problems in the field during construction.
• Develops an understanding for other discipline's needs and requirements and relates them to own discipline and total project scope.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Minimum five years of experience in mechanical piping design.
• Associates degree, or additional experience in lieu of degree.
• Knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, and/or Plant 3D
• Desire to learn new skills and train others.
• Familiar with chemical piping materials.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
