Machine Shop Estimator

Estimate and quote machine work, while seeking to obtain increased sales. Responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring everything required to successfully bid the job is present. Estimators must follow-up with customers to ensure that bids are received, and project information is updated regularly. Will follow-up on bids and budgets to close the business. Will assure company sales goals are achieved.

Duties:

• Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
• Resolves discrepancies in quote by asking questions of customers.
• Prepares quote letter to explain the quote and any clarifications or exceptions to what is in the scope of supply or what exceptions are found in the specifications.
• Send quotes to customers in a timely manner and follows-up to guarantee customer satisfaction.
• Potential to visit plant sites and customers in order to obtain information, measure, or ask questions in regards to the scope of supply.
• Will learn the grinding trade to assist with customer questions.
• Schedule-Full days Monday-Friday. Some Saturdays required, depending on the workload

Skills Required:

• Previous sales experience required-4 years.
• Preferred sales experience in the metal industry.
• Bachalor’s (preferred)
• Computer Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Previous machine shop experience (preferred)
• Work well with diverse clientele (buyers, planners, engineers)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
