Flat World’s International division is seeking a resourceful and enthusiastic Export Freight Forwarding Specialist to join our growing team in Elk Grove Village, IL. The ideal candidate is an excellent self-starter who will be responsible for planning, coordinating and directing all export air and ocean operations. Candidate should be well versed in processes under the role’s responsibilities and will be results-driven and focused. The goal is to ensure operations are carried out productively so-as-to ensure profitability and sustainable growth.

Essential Functions:

• Ensure that all work is produced in a correct, cost effective and timely manner in alignment with specifications and quality requirements
• Contribute towards the achievement of company’s strategic and operational objectives
• Book cargo with airlines and preferably with ocean lines, track and trace, update customers promptly in accordance with requirements
• Examine Shipment financial data, and utilize findings to improve profitability
• Perform quality controls and monitor production KPI’s
• Cater to clients’, and teammates concerns
• Organize and coordinate desk and support team operations in ways that ensure maximum productivity
• Maintain relationships with partners/vendors/suppliers
• Gather, analyze, and interpret external and internal data
• Assess overall company performance against objectives
• Ensure adherence to legal rules and guidelines
• Special projects as assigned
• Light warehouse duty as necessary, such as labeling and shrink wrapping

Qualifications / Skills / Experience:

• Proven working experience as an Export operator, or relevant role
• Operational knowledge of transportation management system, CargoWise, is preferred
• High school diploma, bachelor's degree preferred
• Adequate knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
• Familiarity with business and financial principles and practices
• Working knowledge of forecasting, and metrics
• Basic IT skills (databases, MS Office etc.)
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
• General understanding of diverse business processes and strategy development
