Flatwater Inc. is looking to fill this position with the most qualified applicant, Flatwater is a subsidiary of Ho-Chunk Inc. the economic development company of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. The Local Area Network (LAN) Administrator shall provide one (1) Local Area Network (LAN) Administrator to perform on-site services for various information management/information technology (IM/IT) support activities for the 23 Medical Group (MDG), also referred to as the Medical Information Services Support (MISS). The LAN Administrator shall perform to or meet standards and provide support consistent with the policies, procedures, and standards of the Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force (AF), 23d Wing, 23 MDG, and the 23d Communications Squadron.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and administration of the information systems and network servers. Currently, the network consists of over 10 servers, including, but not limited to, Remote Access Servers (RAS), Fax Servers, Print Servers, Compact Disc (CD) Towers, File, Print and Application Servers. Also, new servers that are introduced to as needed.
  • Support the functionality, operation, administration, and end-user requirements for the Integrated Clinical Database (ICDB) Servers, Coding Compliance Editor, Dental Imaging Collaborative Environment (DICE/MiPACS), AGFA digital radiology, Air Force Medical Service (AFMS) systems, as well the Military Health System (MHS) systems as needed. This includes, but is not limited to, system administrator duties, application development support, end-user support, and report development and processing support, as required.
  • Shall serve as the point of contact (POC) for applications developed/implemented within the organization and by other organizations (e.g., Health Affairs, TRICARE Management Activity, etc.).
  • Detailed activities, essential tasks, and knowledge responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, performance of the following:
  • Manage, administer, and support the servers, applications, hardware operation, operating system software, and system/user support.
  • Assist in the installation of data center equipment, network devices, and peripheral devices; test and certify new revisions of the operating system and layered product software.
  • Have experience with more than one (1) server operating system and internetworking between operating systems, e.g., Microsoft’s Disk Operating System (MSDOS), and its Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, and 2003 server family of operating systems, its Exchange family of electronic mail systems, and its SharePoint system; UNIX; and Virtual Memory System (VMS).
  • Ability to write scripts in some administrative language, e.g., Practical Extraction and Report Language (PERL), Win Script, or other scripting applications.
  • Experience with complex transport control protocol/internet protocol (TCP/IP) networking protocols, e.g., Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS), Dynamic Host
  • Configuration Protocol (DHCP), VPN, UNIX, Domain Name Service (DNS), Point to Point Protocol (PPP), Serial Line Internet Protocol (SLIP), and VMS.
  • Experience with and ability to appropriately configure Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks (RAID).
  • Thorough understanding of and experience in the Open System Interconnection (OSI) model.
  • Install, configure, modify, update, upgrade, and troubleshoot various internetworking hardware and software including, but not limited to, production and test hubs, routers, switches, bridges, firewalls and VPN devices in a LAN/WLAN/VPN environment.
  • Eliminate excess connections, clean-up current cables, and label essential drops in the communications rooms. remove hubs and other network equipment no longer being used in the communication rooms.
  • Maintain library of current scripts, software media, licenses, and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain documentation on network administration processes, e.g., current network diagrams, copies of device configurations, and standard operating procedures for tasks required in this PWS. To include a hard copy.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connectivity problems.
  • Perform, maintain, and document Disaster (Contingency) Recovery Procedures, e.g., maintain system disc integrity, perform backups and fail-over tests, monitor system performance, and conduct capacity planning and general troubleshooting.
  • Create and maintain all Medical Group user accounts in Active Directory.
  • Install all Microsoft and other software vendors critical security patches on all servers as applicable.
  • Support cell phones (iOS devices, etc.) management and establish, disable, and transfer accounts, etc.
  • Shall provide support in the administration, configuration, and maintenance of Local and Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) and Virtual Private Network (VPN) equipment and software. This includes, but is not limited to, hubs, routers, switches, fiber and copper wiring, serial communication lines, and other communications systems.
  • Shall ensure security procedures are implemented and observed and assist in establishing and implementing LAN/WAN/VPN policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Implement and maintain LAN/WLAN/VPN-related security policies.
  • Manage and participate in network upgrade and expansion planning, as needed.
  • Knowledge and experience in MS Project Management Concepts and associated project tracking software.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Life Support Certification. At a minimum, shall receive and maintain current certification in either the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Course C or the American Red Cross CPR/BLS and be maintained in the personnel training folder.
  • Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA). Must have an MCSA with at least 2 years of experience with LAN Administrator duties. Documentation must be provided.
  • CompTIA Security , CompTIA Network , and CompTIA A . Must have all three certifications. Documentation must be provided.
  • Maintenance of certifications shall be an enduring commitment of the requirement.
  • All contract personnel providing services under this contract shall read, write, understand, and have effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • INFORMATION ASSURANCE AWARENESS TRAINING AND EDUCATION: When hired shall complete initial information assurance training before gaining access to any Government information system. Also, shall also complete annual information assurance refresher training to ensure functional competency related to threats and system vulnerabilities, and protective measures taken to counter such disruptions. The training which shall be completed at the place of performance on the first (1st) day of the performance period and annually thereafter.
  • HEALTH INSURANCE PORTABILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY ACT: (HIPAA) OF 1996. All individuals performing services at an Air Force MTF are required to complete and initial an annual refresher HIPAA Privacy and Security Rule training as provided by the MTF for its personnel and will be held accountable for complying with health information privacy and security policies and procedures, reference Section H for detailed HIPAA language.

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION

  • Shall maintain current certification in either the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Course C or the American Red Cross CPR/BLS
  • Must have a Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA).
  • Must all of the following certifications:
  • CompTIA Security
  • CompTIA Network
  • CompTIA A

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

WORK ENVIROMENTThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

TRAVEL25% travel is expected for this position.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORKThis is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some weekend or evening hours may be necessary in emergency situations.
