Job Description Plan, design, develop, and launch efficient business, financial, and operational systems in support of core business processes. Gather and analyze data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. Responsible for the overall solution identification and architectural design for transportation management systems projects and initiatives, ensuring that each project delivered meets business requirements and adheres to IT principles and standards as well as being in alignment with the software best practices and technology roadmap. Essential Tasks Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals. Lead efforts to elicit, review and secure sign-off of business requirements, functional requirements, functional use cases, functional integration use cases, data migration requirements and reporting requirements through engagement with the business stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs). Identifying areas where new business processes can be implemented using native configuration in lieu of customizations to base TMS product functionality Collaborating with other IT architects and business analysts to implement and extend the capabilities of the TMS platform End to End understanding on Transportation Management process, functionality and terminologies Help other teams in Integrating TMS with other systems (POS, OMS, ECOM) Configure standard TMS setup, UI configuration, etc. and make changes to standard algorithms for optimization Developing and maintaining product plans and roadmaps. Provide support for the Transportation management related applications once the solution is implemented. Hands on experience in debugging, developing scripts Coordinate with technical team members (onsite and offshore) to hand-off requirements in all of the aforementioned areas and to convey a complete understanding of the business’ needs for the same. Suggest design options and provide feedback on feasibility of solution designs proposed by technical team members. Ensure the proposed design meets all of the requirements and identify where gaps may exist and proactively work to close these. Identify and document relevant functional test cases and related testing scripts as a part of the quality assurance process. If necessary, participate in the execution testing and quality assurance related activities. Drive, support and if necessary formally lead a User Acceptance Testing (UAT) effort that culminates in an explicit business approval to use the application in a production environment. As necessary, employing communication skills such as persuasion and negotiation with key business stakeholders and SMEs to obtain this approval. Play a key role in the support enhancements, upgrades and new system deployments for transportation management related applications Develop and deliver relevant training directly to the end users of the system, or in a train the trainer format. Coordinate and perform other post-implementation support. Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems. When necessary, lead design sessions in prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow. Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in the assigned business processes. Managing timelines, milestones, and internal details to ensure timely provision of all deliverables Work with FP&A to perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions. Create systems models, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide direction to system programmers. Conduct research on software and hardware products to justify recommendations and to support business needs. Provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members. Qualifications Education A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems. Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience. Professional Experience/Competencies Minimum of 8 years of related work experience. 5 to 7 years of experience implementing MercuryGate TMS or JDA TMS or Manhattan TMS Solutions preferably from shipper side. Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software solutions that support business objectives. Demonstrated project management principles and skills. Knowledge and experience with both waterfall and agile project methodologies Excellent understanding of a Sales and Distribution oriented organization’s goals and objectives. Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required. Highly self motivated and directed. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Exceptional analytical skills and attention to details Ability to create meeting presentations that are clear and easy to comprehend Able to document meeting minutes accurately and effectively in an efficient manner to allow meeting members to review in a reasonable timeframe once a meeting has occurred.
