Senior Account Executive, Healthcare PR

FleishmanHillard has an immediate opening for an energetic, self-starting Senior Account Executive to be part of our growing healthcare practice in Texas. This position, which is based in Austin, provides a fantastic opportunity for a passionate PR practitioner to help develop and execute integrated communications for our largest healthcare client in Texas, as well as other clients in our Texas portfolio. The successful new hire will thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment that focuses on delivering outstanding results.

The ideal candidate will have excellent media relations, organizational and writing skills, and a passion for the work. We are looking for someone who enjoys the “rush” of PR and excels at working within a group environment, and then taking things forward on an individual basis. Experience in healthcare or another regulated industry is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct proactive media relations to local, regional and national media on behalf of healthcare clients
• Proactively identify opportunities to insert clients into broader trends and the ongoing news cycle by maintaining a pulse on relevant news and presenting new, fresh ideas to the team and client.
• Demonstrate ability to effectively develop media materials including pitches, press releases, fact sheets and reports.
• Develop relationships and coordinate correspondence with external audiences: clients, third-party organizations, healthcare professionals, media, etc.
• Contribute to program and plan development and management to meet client objectives.
• Supervise the work of account team members, including interns, by setting priorities, delegating responsibilities, and maintaining deadlines. Direct experience managing, training, and teaching junior staff best practices for media relations is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3 - 4 years of communications experience. PR or similar agency experience is preferred.
• Excitement for healthcare clients and programming is strongly preferred.
• Well-developed skills in building and maintaining media relationships. Knowledge of the Texas media landscape is preferred.
• Strong writing; experience across various types (press releases, various PR materials).Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to maintain composure and quality under deadline pressure.
• Entrepreneurial and action-oriented in business development activities.
• Ability to solve problems and exercise excellent judgment in ambiguous situations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines without sacrificing quality, maintain good client relationships and deliver outstanding results.
• Professional, proactive and committed to high standards in the quality of the communications product.
• Team player with a ‘can do’ attitude.
