Summary/Objective:

As a CNC Programmer at Flexible Concepts, you will be responsible for translating engineering designs into machine-readable code to drive CNC machines. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of CNC programming, experience with various machining processes, and a keen eye for detail to ensure the highest level of precision in our manufacturing processes.


Working Conditions:

  • Primarily working indoors in a manufacturing environment.
  • May stand for 8 or more hours at a time.
  • Prolonged exposure to noise, machinery, forklifts, metal shavings, and slick floors.
  • Repetitive use of hands.
  • Regular use of computer/electrical devices.


Essential Functions:

  • Develop CNC programs using CAM software based on engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Optimize programs for efficiency, tool life, and quality, considering machine capabilities and material characteristics.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools and create tool setups for CNC machines.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure seamless tool changes and machine setups.
  • Conduct thorough testing and simulation of CNC programs to identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance to ensure that programmed dimensions and tolerances meet specifications.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve machining processes to enhance efficiency and reduce cycle times.
  • Work closely with machinists and production engineers to implement process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of CNC programs, tooling setups, and process parameters.
  • Provide clear and concise work instructions for machine operators.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, machinists, and other team members to optimize part designs for manufacturability.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to address production challenges and provide technical expertise.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. The team member is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling objects that are 50 pounds. The team member may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time hourly position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and the direct supervisor.

Travel:

No travel is required for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a CNC Programmer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Esprit & GibbsCam).
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, and materials.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and quality.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
