The opportunity:
The Trade and Regulatory Compliance group is focused on identifying, advising, and developing policies, protocols and procedures to detect and prevent the company from committing violations of laws in the countries in which we or our clients conduct business.
As our company grows, so do the regulatory requirements, complexities and risks. As our Global Corporate Risk Manager, you will join a critical group identified by the executive team to be one of our 3 “C”’s: Culture, Complexity and Compliance. Reporting into the Manager, Compliance Programs you will ensure that the proper risks have been identified, mitigated, and insured in a constantly evolving world and industry working alongside industry veterans with a can-do attitude.
You will:
- Manage bespoke new and renewal insurance programs for Flexport globally
- Establish and maintain carrier relationships
- Manage and oversee claims management process, including the claims handler
- Oversee insurance program administration and planning including contract reviews, Certificates of Insurance, cross-functional global risk assessments, business continuity planning scenarios, and policy reviews
- Work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and implement plans to improve program performance and value
- Analyze existing policy and process gaps, and develop solutions to close them
- Manage the invoice / payment process for all placements, fees, and claims billings
- Be comfortable using data to analyze trends, as well as predict and proactively fix problems that arise
- Closely monitor media and global events to anticipate and mitigate potential risks
You should have:
- BA/BS degree and 5 years of Insurance industry experience
- Experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Freight Forwarding is a plus!
- Insurance Brokerage License preferred, however, can be waived with dedicated experience in the insurance field
- Demonstrated a successful track record and expertise in managing risk for a global company
- The ability to work quickly and communicate effectively, as well the ability to bring clarity to an ambiguous situation
- Exposure to a range of disciplines including underwriting, placement, product design, business development, insurance administration, and claims
- Excellent business judgment, executive presence, communication, and interpersonal skills
- High integrity and discretion to handle confidential information
- Strong enthusiasm to provide superb customer service to the leadership team and other key stakeholders
- Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases
