Purpose of Position
Responsible for developing and improving 3D environments and models to be used in real-time visual systems. This includes design and development of 3D airport models and surfaces, terrain models, moving models, feature models, as well as associated imagery and texture assets.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Requires expanded conceptual knowledge of hard-surface modeling. - Utilizes maps, photography, satellite imagery and digital mapping data to create realistic scenes for use in flight simulators.- Correctly interpret build requirements and provide input into documentation such as Visual Database Design Documents (VDBDD).- Utilizes modeling platforms which include FlightSafety specific tools in conjunction with third party software.- Operate real-time systems to check work. - Understands key business drivers; and uses this understanding to provide reasonable estimates for work to be accomplished. - Work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. - Maintain lines of communication across the modeling organization in a positive and collaborative way.- Have a good knowledge base on industry standard texturing and modeling techniques.- Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents- Provides informal guidance to new team members
Minimum Education
Associates degree in an art related profession preferred
Minimum Experience
3 years
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Broad experience with texturing, UV, and Game Level asset production. AutoCAD®, 3DS Max® (or other industry standard 3D modeling packages) and/or Presagis Creator® experience a plus.- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Windows.- Experience with Unix is a plus.
