Position Summary: Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Psychologist - Boca Raton, FL The psychologist will be an integral of the CAPS team and have demonstrated expertise in multicultural issues, the ability to conceptualize client concerns and deliver services that attend to sociocultural contexts, are committed to fostering a professional culture of self-reflection that supports both broad and specific diversity initiatives and engages all individuals to help them thrive. Successful candidates will be keenly sensitive to issues of gender, culture, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabilities, socio-economic status, etc. and to be skilled with techniques for counseling students from a variety backgrounds. Our multidisciplinary staff includes mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, and social workers who deliver services that maintain the highest standards of professional and ethical care. Clients present to CAPS with a wide variety of mental health concerns. Therefore, we are seeking psychologists with experience treating trauma related to marginalized identity dimensions (BIPOC, LGBTQIA , deep poverty, as examples), anxiety, depression, suicidality, self-harm, trauma, mania/hypomania, psychosis, substance use issues, adjustment concerns, relationship difficulties, disordered eating, and other common issues facing undergraduate and graduate students. The FAU CAPS is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services and the doctoral internship program in health service psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association. A doctorate in psychology from an accredited college or university, which includes one year of supervised internship experience in professional psychology; or licensure as a psychologist by the State of Florida in accordance with Chapter 490, F.S is required for this position. Professional responsibilities include: Initial assessment and determination of treatment needs. Conducting individual, couples, and group psychotherapy with students. Conducting crisis interventions and clinical consultations. Providing outreach services to the university community. Developing liaison relationships across the University; and supervising Masters and Doctoral trainees and post-doctoral residents.
