Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counselor to join our team. As a Counselor, you will provide mental health counseling and support to patients in a clinical setting. This is an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals seeking help and support.
Duties:
- Conduct individual counseling sessions with patients to assess their mental health needs and develop treatment plans
- Provide crisis intervention and support to patients experiencing acute mental health episodes
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including doctors and nurses, to coordinate patient care
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Stay up-to-date with clinical research and best practices in mental health counseling
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help patients achieve their treatment goals
- Provide direct support and guidance to patients in managing their mental health conditions
- Assist in the implementation of treatment plans, including medication management and referrals for additional services
Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related field
- Previous experience working in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred
- Knowledge of ICD-10 coding for accurate diagnosis and billing purposes
- Strong understanding of mental health disorders and treatment modalities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, and patience when working with patients in distress
- Proficient in crisis intervention techniques
Skills:
- HIPAA compliance: Familiarity with regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality
- Clinical research: Knowledge of current research studies and best practices in mental health counseling
- Mental health counseling: Proficiency in providing therapeutic interventions for individuals with various mental health conditions
- Patient care: Ability to provide compassionate and supportive care to patients in need
- Direct support: Experience in assisting individuals with their mental health needs on a one-on-one basis
- ICD-10 coding: Familiarity with diagnostic coding for accurate documentation and billing purposes
- Crisis intervention: Ability to effectively manage and de-escalate crisis situations
- Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): Knowledge and application of CBT techniques in counseling sessions
