Description

SUMMARY: Receives and pays out money, and keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions by performing the following duties in accordance with the Florida Credit Unions policies, goals, and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for the following functions in the teller department including but not limited to:

  • Receives checks and cash for deposits and payments
  • Verifies the cash received and examines all checks for correct routing / transit numbers, amounts and endorsements
  • Cashes checks and pays out money after verification of identification, signature, and account balance.
  • Transfers loan payments, share transactions and loan advances.
  • Processes Credit Card Advances
  • Open and close Certificates of Deposit
  • Visa payments
  • IRA deposits
  • Enters transactions into the computer to record transactions, and issues a computer generated receipt.
  • Place CHECK HOLD on accounts when necessary.
  • Orders daily increase of cash if necessary and verifies amount of strap and individual bills.
  • Decreases cash to vault if cash drawer is over required limit.
  • Decrease coin daily to vault.
  • Balances currency, coin, and checks in cash drawer at the end of shift to the computer print out of daily transactions.
  • Cross sells FCU products to the membership (travelers checks, money orders, interest bearing checking accounts, etc.).
  • Process stop payments on member accounts
  • Branch Tellers open new accounts.
  • Branch Tellers Process payroll deposits.
  • Night Deposit Under dual control removes deposit envelopes, count the number and log into Night Deposit Book and balances.
  • Perform other duties/functions as required by Senior Teller or Management.
  • Compliance with OFAC, and the Bank Secrecy Act

  1. Responsible for working cooperatively with all Credit Union departments as necessary

  2. Regular and predictable attendance.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a business/financial environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must have legible penmanship. Ability to effectively communicate on a one-to-one basis with members and with co-employees. Ability to concentrate on your transactions/work area and not communicate excessively with your co-workers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to count proficiently by 1s, 5s, 10s, 20s, 50s and 100s. Must keep your work area neat, clean, and secured. Keep your cash drawer counted down and excess cash/coin secured. Learn to count currency by Portraits. Ability to learn and identify all parts of a bill.
