What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Flow Therapy?
We’re looking for an ambitious, dynamic, articulate, high-energy Controller who will be responsible for developing and maintaining internal control policies, liaison with executive leadership on financial health, devise and advise leadership on short and long term practices for managing the account payable function. The Controller will play a vital role in managing the accounting function of the company, consulting with leadership on strategies to define and improve the financial state of the business, and protecting the company’s assets.

About the Role
- Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for the accounting function.
- Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
- Prepare financial statements, financial position forecasts, and reports, as requested.
- Report to management regarding the current financial status of the company.
- Advise management of issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
- Provide direction and assistance to other departments regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures, efficient control, and utilization of financial resources.
- Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
- Analyze the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed.
- Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
- Monitor financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
- Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses to make appropriate recommendations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and nonorganizational accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities.
- Receive, record and authorize requests for disbursements in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
- Develop, implement, modify and document recordkeeping within the accounting system, making use of current computer technology.
- Conduct or coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Lead staff training and development in budgeting and financial management areas.
- Assist the third-party vendor in the preparation of financial information for the purpose of filing annual tax returns.
- Manage the accounts payable function, including reviewing all invoices for appropriate documentation and prior approval for payment, printing and obtaining signatures on checks, distributing checks on a timely basis, and maintaining accounts payable reports.
