The Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) in the Surgery Department is a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), an unlicensed member of the surgical team, who scrubs and/or assists during surgical procedures. This position functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The CSFA functions as a CST by providing direct and indirect patient care, for patients of all ages from pediatric to geriatric by assisting in the preparation of the patient and environment for the performance of surgical procedures.
