Role Summary:
As a buyer you will be responsible for managing multiple assigned commodities found in valve manufacturing that may include machined parts, castings, forgings, bar, fasteners, soft goods, industrial distribution, OEM, indirect, or subcontract items. As a predominantly made to order shop, this role is highly transactional, and the successful applicant will be responsible for the management of hundreds of individual purchase orders at any given time. Additionally, you will manage and support other Flowserve Supply Chain activities and initiatives as necessary.

Responsibilities & Requirements:
- Procurement of material to specifications defined by engineering and quality assurance, while driving for lowest pricing, highest quality, and quickest delivery when selecting and managing suppliers.
- Tracking, analyzing, developing and implementing plans to build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
- Develop deep relationships within supply base and leverage to drive ongoing improvements in total cost of ownership and responsiveness.
- Typical activities include financial evaluation, price negotiation, manufacturing process reconciliation and documentation, packaging approval, and master data maintenance.
- Develop, lead, and implement Continuous Improvement Initiatives to streamline and improve Flowserve’s supply chain processes.
- Regularly evaluate and proactively execute corrective and preventative actions to ensure Flowserve is receiving the right products and the right time at the best price while minimizing rework.
- Assignments are broad and complex in nature, will require ingenuity, creativity, demonstrated urgency, attention to detail and determination to successfully complete.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, or related field OR combination of experience and/or education relevant for this role
- Strong Negotiation skills
- Strong MRP knowledge and experience
- 5 - 10 (or more) years of direct buying experience in a complex environment with a significant amount of spend
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and its utilization as a part of analytical decision making
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to track open issues and drive timely closure on a variety of projects with a variety of stakeholders
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- SAP Experience Preferred
- APICS certification or professional procurement certification
- Experience in ERP implementation
- Business Transformation experience
