The Table Magician is responsible for all items plates and instruments arriving to and disappearing from the table. This position will work closely with the other members of the team to ensure proper service, maintain cleanliness, help maintain non-alcoholic beverage program and guest relations. This position requires physical labor, intensive work and some experience. The position will assist the General Manager, Chef, Sommelier and Host in all duties to ensure a, clean, healthy, safe, and efficient restaurant with top-quality food and top-notch service. Provides table service to restaurant patrons by taking orders for food and beverages, delivering orders to the table, and ensuring that patrons have a pleasant dining experience.

The Essentials:

  • Greets customers as they are seated at the table; asks for water order, ensures the table is clean and that utensils, napkins, and other needs have been provided.
  • Distributes menus if necessary to tables
  • Describe different dishes the Chef de Cuisine creates
  • Assists Chef de Cuisine with pre-service preparations. This includes, but is not limited to, assembling farmers boards, dips, and butter trays.
  • Answers questions regarding the menu.
  • Answer the phone, confirm reservations and assist with all other reservation requests
  • Have general knowledge of food and food allergies
  • Takes beverage orders and confirms them with the Sommelier
  • Delivers food, beverages, condiments, and other requested items to customers.
  • Ensures that food is prepared correctly and to customer’s satisfaction; returns incorrect or improperly cooked orders to kitchen.
  • Collects plates and clears the table as customers finish their meals.
  • Prepares customers checks and collects payments.
  • Assists with other restaurant tasks such as cleaning the dining area and preparing silverware and condiments.
  • Wash, clean and sanitize dishes as they come to dish pit, maintain dish pit cleanliness
  • Polish plates, silverware and glassware as it comes out of dishwasher
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Customer Service Duties

· Providing excellent customer service

· Greeting patrons once they are seated

· Presenting menus to customers

· Explaining menu items to customers

· Answering questions from guests about food and beverages

· Finding out if customers need additional items

· Verifying that customers are satisfied with their orders

Sales Duties

· Helping take beverage orders

· Up-selling additional food and beverage products to patrons

· Entering each additional item ordered into restaurant register system

· Assisting with check delivery when needed

Operations Duties

· Communicating guest dietaries/allergies to kitchen team

· Ensuring that guests dietaries/allergies are marked properly on the kitchen map

· Delivering plated course to guests

· Removing empty plates, used silverware, and soiled napkins from tables

· Determining when customers have completed the meal

· Attending scheduled team or shift meetings

· Training new team members when necessary

Health and Safety

  • Ability to respond appropriately to an emergency or a crisis situation.

Communication and Contacts with Others

  • Work in conjunction with the F.L.X. Hospitality staff.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • To attending trainings and professional development activities as appropriate.
  • To communicate with the staff and welcome input.

Additional Functions

  • Represent F.L.X. Hospitality in a professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Competencies & Qualifications:

· Knowledge and background in wine, spirits, beer and specialty food products preferred

· Energetic personality and genuine desire to help guests explore our offerings

· 1-2 years’ experience in customer service and sales

· 1-2 years’ experience in wine/spirits industry preferred.

· Ability to work independently as well as on a team

Work Environment

The work environment can be loud and busy. There are many kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces and liquids, sharp knives, and slippery floors.

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
