Job Summary
We are looking for a Director of Plant Engineering to direct the daily operations of the facility and drive continuous improvement and optimization of all processes. This Smooth Operator will oversee all daily functions of the facility maintenance technicians to ensure policies and procedures are followed. This role develops processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity…until the next season of Stranger Things drops, then no one’s getting anything done.
Role and Responsibilities
- The person in this role needs to be a highly functioning control freak who nerds out at the thought of planning, organizing, directing and overseeing day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Team. This includes managing the employees and preparing work schedules, in addition to actively working with the procurement team
- Ensure that the facility’s equipment and machines are maintained properly and working correctly so we can get that delicious beer out to those wonderful degenerates who drink it
- Oversee the facility’s maintenance program; identify and analyze equipment or machinery failures and take corrective actions with an emphasis on preventative maintenance (if you’re a ‘wait and see’ kind of person, this may not be the role for you)
- Coordinate work performed by outside contractors, vendors and engineering consultants
- Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to the health, safety and labor requirements of the brewery and its employees
Qualifications and preferred skills
- A minimum of 3 years’ work experience in facility operations and management
- In depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic skills. Understanding of industrial wastewater pretreatment and ammonia refrigeration a plus. Able to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
- Experience in beverage production industry (please note, we said ‘production’ not ‘consumption’)
- Computer literacy and understanding of MS Office and other industry related software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication methods to work effectively with employees, management, and business partners

- Must be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds, and you must do it in Olivia Newton-John-inspired spandex and sweat bands.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the production facility
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
