What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bistro Manager position at Flyleaf?
Flyleaf, an upscale bookshop, bistro and bar in Grosse Pointe, is looking for an experienced, reliable and ambitious Bistro Manager to oversee and manage the operations of our bistro and bar.
The Bistro Manager is responsible for all aspects of restaurant service in accordance with the guest-centric culture of the company’s vision and values, working in collaboration with the Owner and management team to maximize sales, motivate staff and ensure a welcoming and elevated experience for the Flyleaf customer.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Hire, manage and schedule all bistro/bar staff and maintain employee records. Review and approve payroll. Effectively manage and maintain labor costs. Streamline training procedures and processes.
- Resolve customer concerns regarding quality and customer service, and review customer feedback. Identify strategies to retain and attract customers.
- Help determine the bistro/bar budget and review reports, track sales, and manage inventory. Responsible for weekly ordering of liquor and other bar supplies and effectively maintain costs.
- Oversee/manage our staff Wine Consultant, who is responsible for managing our wine program.
- Coordinate bistro/bar equipment maintenance and repair, as needed.
- Extensive knowledge and management of Toast POS. Troubleshoot, update/edit menu items, employee time entries and voids/comps/refunds, etc.
- Extensive knowledge of menu and beverage offerings. Clear and timely communication with all staff on menu changes and/or updates.
- Spearhead buyouts, reservations and events. Collaborate with the Owner and Managing Director on the planning and execution of events (author signings, wine tastings, etc.).
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a high end establishment(s)
- Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory role
- ServeSafe certified
- Effective at labor cost management
- Able to ensure proper safety, sanitation and health department requirements
- Able to utilize GSuite and Microsoft Office applications
- Able to operate and manage the Toast POS system
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
