What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Technician position at FOAM DESIGN?
SUMMARY: Conducts first article, in process, final inspection on parts as well as incoming material inspection to ensure compliance to all company, customer and regulatory quality plans, standards, methods, policies, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include some or all the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assists in devising sampling procedures and development of forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality and reliability data.
Sets up and performs tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
Reviews purchase orders, customer drawings and QAPs to determine required dimensions of product or material.
Uses rulers, tape measures, calipers, protractors, coordinate measuring machines, gages or fixtures to verify and records specified dimensions of product or material. CMM and/or FARO arm experience preferred.
Participates in internal and external quality audits.
Performs routine scheduled calibrations and maintains records in accordance with documented procedures.
Performs all duties in accordance with all applicable quality system procedures and company policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience or training. Computer experience using spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret instructions, short correspondence, memos and documents such as safety rules, methods, and diagrams. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, auditors, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee’s time is split between an office environment and a manufacturing environment. In the plant the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.
