Position Description:
Our laboratory is interested in the nature of protective immunity to intracellular bacteria, including Francisella tularensis and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This position will support work on current projects, which revolve around using animal models to define protective immune mechanisms and develop T cell-mediated correlates of protection (for more information about the lab’s work, please see recent publications via http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/myncbi/1LiW9NRGRNgQa/bibliography/47968487/public/?sort=date&direction=descending).
Qualifications:
U.S. citizens, non-citizens with permanent resident status, or non-citizens that are eligible for a J-1 visa are eligible for ORISE positions (please note: only J-1 visas are acceptable). In addition, candidates must be within 5 years of receiving their highest degree, and if not a U.S. citizen candidates must have lived in the U.S. for a minimum of 3 of the last 5 years. Stipends correspond roughly to U.S. government GS scales, are commensurate with education and experience, and may include an allowance for mandatory health insurance. This position will be appointed initially for 1 year with the potential for renewal, contingent on excellent performance and future funding, via a fellowship from ORISE (see http://orise.orau.gov/fda/ and https://www.fda.gov/aboutfda/workingatfda/fellowshipinternshipgraduatefacultyprograms/ucm486289.htm).
