Assistant Athletic Trainer

Overview

 Administers athletic training services to serve as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Paradise Valley Community College under a Head Athletic Trainer. These services include but are not limited to injury prevention programs, athletic consults, injury assessment, treatment, and case management of injured athletes undergoing rehabilitation. This is a part time position and will be 25 hours a week.

Qualifications

• Completion of a CAATE approved athletic training education program or educational equivalent required.
• Certified by the Board of Certification of the National Athletic Trainers Association required.
• Licensed by the Arizona Board of Athletic Training required.
• Valid & current driver’s license.
• Efficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Post-certification Master’s degree in athletic training or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a certified athletic trainer is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in providing medical care for all athletes including physical examinations, physician referrals, evaluation, prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
• Evaluate injuries and develop treatment and exercise plans within the scope of practice. Re-evaluate treatment plans as needed to ensure maximum patient benefit.
• Ancillary duties may include, but are not limited to, tending to wound care dressings, taking vital signs, concussion management, taping modalities, and chart progressions for appropriate patients.
• Implement individualized therapeutic interventions and monitor responses to therapy to ensure athlete safety.
• Conduct injury screening clinics, educational programs, and workshops to promote safety and injury prevention.
• Educate athletes, families, and coaches regarding injuries, risk factor modification, and exercise programs.
• Document patient treatment according to professional and regulatory standards.
• Other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer
