About For Our Future

Founded in 2016, For Our Future Action Fund and For Our Future run the largest, permanent progressive field program across key states. Our vision is to expand the progressive infrastructure and advance economic prosperity for all, strong community schools, climate justice, and racial and social justice. Along with community partners and volunteers, we consistently engage with people in face-to-face conversations around what issues matter most to them. By organizing people in lasting relationships, we win elections, drive local progress, make a community's collective voice heard, and help build the transformative power needed to improve peoples lives.

 

In 2018, we made over 10 million door knocks and held over 1.5 million face-to-face conversations with voters in 7 states. Our turnout operation and innovative program helped restore voting rights to 1.4 million Floridians, expand Medicaid coverage to 400,000 in Virginia, and resulted in sizable electoral progress at the state and federal level, including the pickup of 3 Gubernatorial offices, 1 Senate seat, 13 Congressional seats, and 22 state legislative seats.

 

For Our Future will continue to grow and win through 2020, building power across issue fights and elections. Headquartered in Washington, DC, our current state programs include Florida, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

 

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dynamic individual to assist with the For Our Future and For Our Future Action Fund partnership programs. This is a key role interfacing with our State Directors, external partners, and other progressive organizations across the country. Our ideal candidate is a clear communicator, is highly detail-oriented, has excellent people skills, demonstrates a passion for progressive issues and politics, and has sharp political instincts.

 

The Partnerships Manager is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Campaigns Director.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the partnership program, including
    • Reviewing grant applications
    • Shepherding grant applications and agreements through an internal approval process
    • Maintaining a database of grantee specifics, progress to goal, and accountability metrics
    • Producing materials related to the program
    • Providing training on the program to state staff
    • Collaborating with staff across partner organizations to ensure grants are administered smoothly and results are achieved
    • Working with national and state staff to identify new potential partners
    • Implementing quality control and technical assistance for partner programs
    • Working with state staff to ensure that partnerships are executed in a culturally competent fashion
  • Representing the organizations at coalition and table meetings as needed
  • Producing issue and constituency-based program reports

 

Qualifications:

  • At least four years working in progressive politics or advocacy
  • Exceptional communications skills and extraordinary attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Google and Microsoft platforms
  • Flexibility and a willingness to take on new tasks and work long hours as needed
  • Experience working on projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working on an electoral campaign a plus
  • Experience working on an issue campaign a plus
  • Experiences working for or with labor a plus
  • Experience drafting program strategy and budgets a plus
  • Experience drafting and reviewing contracts a plus
  • Experience working for a community-based nonprofit organization a plus

 

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • Normal hours of business are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday thru Friday, however employees may be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends and nights.
  • Employees may be required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle, and generally not allowed to take more than 2-3 days off consecutively during blackout periods. Emergencies are not affected by this policy.
