What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Manager position at ForeFlight?

ForeFlight is seeking a motivated IT manager to lead our IT team. In this role, you will analyze our current corporate systems and assets, recommend and implement solutions and upgrades, and provide training to the IT team. Our ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of network maintenance, experience managing staff, and advanced industry knowledge to keep us on the cutting edge. From day one, you’ll have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of our IT operations, and an ongoing impact on our overall growth and success.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, maintain and upgrade fleet of 700 macOS and iOS devices.
  • Manage HelpDesk support via ticketing system for 300 employees, many remote, across 4 domestic and international sites.
  • Maintain and ensure uptime of ForeFlight’s corporate network and remote access VPNs.
  • Design, install and configure IT and facilities infrastructure in new office expansions.
  • Communicate with and direct 3rd party vendors and contractors for improvements and updates to existing offices and new office build outs or expansions.
  • Conduct research of current technologies and recommend selection of IT hardware, software and supply inventory.
  • Plan and execute regular upgrades to all internal IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Ensure that department milestones and goals are met while adhering to approved budgets.
  • Create new and improve current IT and HelpDesk policies and procedures aimed at optimizing service and staff performance.
  • Hire, develop and train HelpDesk staff.
  • Maintain disaster recovery and backups for all IT and HelpDesk systems and infrastructure.
  • Manage and maintain licensing and support contracts for all IT and HelpDesk systems as well as all software utilized by ForeFlight employees.
  • Maintain relationships with outside entities to ensure smooth integration projects and efforts.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive IT support experience with macOS and iOS.
  • Experience with Google Workspace, JAMF, Palo Alto, Cisco Meraki MS and MR,  MFA, AWS (VPC, EC2, Route53), Active Directory, GPO, NPS, DHCP, DNS and asset management preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of IT Best practices, policies and regulations
  • Understanding of computer science, automation and digital security
  • A clear understanding of client/server technology and network architecture
  • More than 5 years experience of related support services experience
  • More than 3 years supervisory experience preferred
