Lifeguard

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lifeguard is a seasonal position with Naventure. This position is required for successful operation.

I. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor and supervise aquatic activities.
• Ensure that all individuals taking part in these activities adhere to the rules to prevent injuries and other accidents.
• Respond to any emergencies in a timely manner.
• Employees are expected to work all schedules shifts, find a sub if shift cannot be completed.

II. NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the position and/or to be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

• Must be able to work cooperatively with Naventure, United States Forest Service, and the public.
• Possess strong verbal communication skills to ensure exceptional customer service, including conflict resolution skills.
• Must be willing to work in adverse weather and water conditions.
• Must adhere to streamlined processes put forth by the administrative staff.
• The ability to independently respond to any emergencies according to protocol as they arise.

III. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Prior experience and qualifications necessary to perform the duties associated with the position.
• Must hold current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or be willing to obtain.
• Must have CPR, AED, and First Aid for the professional rescuer certification.
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.
• Must maintain a positive, efficient, and functional work culture.

• Environment: Work is performed primarily at the recreation areas; incumbents may be required to work extended hours including evenings, weekends and holidays and may be required to attend meetings.
• Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate to heavy amounts of weight; to operate building maintenance equipment requiring repetitive hand movement.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal, Temporary

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 35 per week

Experience:

• Lifeguard: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:
