Assistant Director
Foundation for Behavioral Resources (FBR) Child Development Center (CDC) is seeking a full-time Assistant Director for a multi-site child development program. FBR manages seven pre-schools and GSRP classrooms located in the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek area. FBR, founded in 1972, is a non-profit corporation located in scenic South-Western Michigan. FBR is a results oriented organization dedicated to ensuring the delivery of quality childcare and educational services.
The ideal assistant director will have a dedication to early childhood education and be flexible in daily assignments. CDC program affords collegial and administrative support for new and experienced staff.
Responsibilities:
Answers questions from parents and helps resolve problems
Records information on daily count sheets and adjusts grouping and number of staff as required
Answer telephone inquiries and conducts tours of the Center
Supervises staff to ensure CDC policies and procedures are followed
Supervise staff to ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the Center
Receives cash payments and CDC procedures for cash receipts are followed
Assists in collecting accounts receivable
Documents personnel problems
Informs FBR of any licensing or media contacts
Submits maintenance requests as needed
Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Director
* Qualifications:
Assistant Director must meet one of the following education requirements.
60 semester hours with 18 units in early childhood education or child development, and 1920 hours of experience.
Valid Child development associate credential with 18 semester hours in early childhood education
Montessori credential with 18 semester hours in early childhood education or child development and 960 hours of experience
Associate's degree in early childhood education or child development with 18 semester hours in early childhood education or child development and 480 hours of experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in a child-related field with 18 semester hours in early childhood education or child development and 480 hours of experience. A child-related field means elementary education, child guidance/counseling, child psychology, family studies, and social work.
All Early Childhood Assistant Directors shall have at least 2 semester hours or 3.0 CEUs in child care administration, or have an administrative credential approved by the state of Michigan
21 years of age
CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certified or obtain upon hire
Tuberculosis test completed upon hire with Physician documentation

Knowledge of State of Michigan Child Care Rules and Regulations, Child Protective Services, the Great Start to Quality Program, and Great Start Readiness Program regulations
Supervisory skills to direct staff and the day-to-day operations of a childcare educational program
Collaborative team player with administrative and direct care staff to ensure high-quality services
Has the ability to work effectively with families to support the diverse needs of children
Develops a classroom environment that focuses on the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, physical, and educational needs
Is willing to participate in community events outside of normal business hours
* * Work Hours: Full time. Monday thru Friday. Variable schedule between 6:00 am – 6:00 pm * Philosophy: Utilizes developmentally appropriate and best practice methods at all times. Be warm and nurturing with children. A positive role model for all care giving staff, as well as children. Provide an excellent and professional service adhering to the standards of the CDC.
