CDC Director

Foundation for Behavioral Resources (FBR) Child Development Center (CDC) is seeking a full-time Program Director for an infant through school-age, child development program. FBR manages seven pre-schools and GSRP classrooms located in the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek area. FBR, founded in 1972, is a non-profit corporation located in scenic South-Western Michigan. FBR is a results oriented organization dedicated to ensuring the delivery of quality childcare and educational services.

The ideal Program Director will have a dedication to early childhood education and be flexible in daily assignments. CDC program affords a collegial and administrative support for new and experienced staff.

Responsibilities:

The CDC Director has overall responsibility for the performance of the Center. This includes, but is not limited to:

· Analyzing financial reports and implementing appropriate measures to ensure Center generates appropriate net positive cash flow

· Controlling and monitoring Center expenses

· Preparing and submitting reports as required by Early Childhood Coordinator

· Resolving problems with parents while maintaining a good working relationship

· Projecting professional and respectful atmosphere at all times

· Informing Early Childhood Coordinator of all licensing complaints and other serious situations

· Responsible for appropriate implementation of curriculum in each classroom

· Responsible for timely completion of all corrections required by state licensing laws

· Correcting all deficiencies identified in monthly inspections done by the Early Childhood Coordinator or their designee

· Securing FBR approval when required or appropriate

· Planning and executing tow low/no cost forms of advertising each month

· Properly maintain the physical condition of the Center

· Making or arranging all repairs and maintenance

· Supervises the performance of all CDC employees at the Center to ensure:

o Staff provide high quality service

o Staff interact appropriately with children and parents

o Staff use and account for supplies in a responsible manner

o Staff follow all CDC and FBR policies and procedures

o Staff clock in and clock out properly and work only assigned hours

o Staff do not perform any unnecessary overtime

· Managing staffing ratios, accounts receivable, food service and reimbursement, expense disbursements and staff/child interaction

· Managing and safekeeping tuition collection

· Maximizing space and program utilization

· Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood Coordinator

Qualifications:

Program Director must meet one of the following education requirements.

  • 60 semester hours with 18 units in early childhood education or child development, and 1920 hours of experience.
  • Valid Child development associate credential with 18 semester hours in early childhood education
  • Montessori credential with 18 semester hours in early childhood education or child development and 960 hours of experience
  • Associate's degree in early childhood education or child development with 18 semester hours in early childhood education or child development and 480 hours of experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a child-related field with 18 semester hours in early childhood education or child development and 480 hours of experience. A child-related field means elementary education, child guidance/counseling, child psychology, family studies, and social work.
  • All Early Childhood Directors shall have at least 2 semester hours or 3.0 CEUs in child care administration, or have an administrative credential approved by the state of Michigan
  • 21 years of age
  • CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certified or obtain upon hire
  • Tuberculosis test completed upon hire with Physician documentation

Attributes:

  • Knowledge of State of Michigan Child Care Rules and Regulations, Child Protective Services, the Great Start to Quality Program, and Great Start Readiness Program regulations
  • Supervisory skills to direct staff and the day-to-day operations of a childcare educational program
  • Collaborative team player with administrative and direct care staff to ensure high-quality services
  • Has the ability to work effectively with families to support the diverse needs of children
  • Develops a classroom environment that focuses on the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, physical, and educational needs
  • Is willing to participate in community events outside of normal business hours

Work Hours: Full time. Monday thru Friday. Variable schedule between 6:00 am – 6:00 pm

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $18.00 per hour
