Health Care Aide
Thornapple Elementary
Reports To: Building Principal
Pay Grade: Grade 3, Step 1, $15.57 per hour
Schedule: 7 hours per day / 35 hours per week / School Year
Job Summary: The Health Care Aide assists students with mobility and necessary personal care needs.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with elementary aged children
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds
- CPR Certification preferred
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist students with mobility and necessary personal care needs
- Stable tracheostomy tube care as needed
- Stable G-tube maintenance and feeding
- Regular medication administration
- Provide support to Resource Room as needed
- Consistent and reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Work may be performed indoors and/or outdoors. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.
Mental Functions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
