Safety/Human Resources Assistant
Job Summary:
This position is split between Safety Coordinating duties and assisting the Human Resources Manager with the day-to-day Human Resources functions. The ideal candidate will have an interest and prior experience in administrating Safety programs and OSHA compliance. Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment with continual interruptions, changing priorities and moving deadlines is a must.
Essential Functions
- Assist with administration of safety policies, procedures, and practices including OSHA compliance.
- Conduct safety committee meetings and safety trainings
- Assist with application process; schedule interviews, make job offers and schedule new hires for orientation.
- Complete and collect pre-employment and new hire paperwork.
- Communicate information via letter, phone, e-mail, etc.
- Assemble varied reports and/or packets of material for presentation of new hire orientation, safety trainings, safety committee, or other meetings.
- Provide reception support as needed for the front office.
- Prepare and compose from rough draft, a variety of memos, letters, correspondence and reports.
- Assist with maintaining and updating employee data in various databases, including Excel.
- Maintain accurate filing systems for employee records.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Perform a variety of other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.
- Local travel is regularly required.
- Out of state travel is occasionally required.
- OSHA certification will be required upon hire
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in administration of Safety Programs and OSHA regulations is preferred; OSHA certification is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience in Human resources principles and practices is preferred.
- Must have the ability to accurately complete multiple tasks simultaneously, with frequent interruptions.
- Must be proficient in the use of general and specialized office equipment, computer and software applications including: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power point, laminator, copier, fax, scanner, shredder, and other basic office equipment.
- Effective and legible written communication skills.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Must have a strong commitment to accurately completing tasks and problem solving.
- Must demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and integrity.
- Must be able to work independently with general direction, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions & decimals; compute rates, ratios and percentages.
Wage:
This is an hourly, non-exempt position. The starting hourly pay rate will depend upon experience.
