As a QA Lead at FormAssembly, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software platform. This position requires a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and hands-on involvement in all aspects of the testing process.
At FormAssembly, software quality is everyone’s responsibility and though we have specific roles in our software engineering teams for testing, our qa engineers and testers are managed directly within our teams by our software engineering managers. This role is a senior-level individual contributor with significant opportunity for leadership and impact. This position will have a seat on FormAssembly’s software engineering leadership team, and will report directly to the CTO.
In this role, you will be responsible for test planning, test management & execution, design of automation and manual test plans, and you will have ownership for the curation and organization of the bug backlog. Via influence, you will lead a small team of like-minded quality testers and engineers who work as embedded members within Agile cross-functional teams.You will wear many hats while you influence and execute across multiple initiatives.

While FormAssembly is a fully remote/distributed team (work from home), we do require this position to be available standard business hours during east coast time (EST/EDT, North America).
What you'll do:
- Test Planning and Management: Develop comprehensive test plans, strategies, and methodologies to ensure thorough testing coverage across all software releases.
- Test Execution: Lead and participate in the execution of manual and automated tests, including functional, performance, load, and scenario testing.
- Automation: Drive the adoption and implementation of automation frameworks and tools to streamline testing processes and increase efficiency.
- Bug Backlog Ownership: Take ownership of the bug backlog, prioritize issues based on severity and impact, and work with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders in all phases of planning and exeuction to fully understand requirements, identify testing needs, and drive continuous improvement in quality assurance practices.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the QA team members, helping to develop their skills and expertise in testing and automation.
- 10 years of experience in software quality assurance, with a strong focus on test planning, management, and execution.
- Though this role is a direct-contributor role, the ideal candidate will have had a background managing others.
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and tools, such as Selenium, JUnit, or similar.
- Proficiency in testing methodologies and techniques, including functional, performance, load, and scenario testing.
- Strong understanding of test environments, deployment pipelines, and CI/CD processes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Leadership qualities, including problem-solving, decision-making, and the ability to inspire and influence others from a high-level individual contributor role.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Experience in regulated industries like healthcare, financial services, and government is a plus.
