What are the responsibilities and job description for the AP Assistant position at Formosa Plastics?
This position is responsible for processing all outbound freight invoices received for payments and for undertaking the payment of all carriers in an accurate, efficient and timely manner. This will involve verifying OCR capture invoice information and entering non-OCR invoice in Freight payment system while also providing clerical and administrative support as needed. Accurate and on-time processing freight invoices will safeguard company’s cash and maintain good relationships with carriers. Major Areas of Accountability: · Verify OCR capture information in Kofax Readsoft.· Handle mail of freight invoice from carrier.· Manage electronic freight invoice in FPCINVOICE email box.· Enter freight invoice to AS400 system for payment including invoices from email and mail.· Generate Freight Abnormal Report (FAR) and send to Accountant for review.· Help carrier to track payment status.· Work with the carrier and Logistics Dept. to clear out past due invoices and reconcile the statement for carrier.· Assist Accountant to follow up the FAR with Logistics Dept. to avoid late payment or overpayment.· Communicate with new carriers to request them provide appropriate payment information carriers' invoices.· Assist Accountant to contact Logistics Dept. for the AS400 tables set up to ensure of accurate carriers remittance information including auto-email of wire payment detail to carriers.· Manage old freight bill in cabinets and storeroom.· Other tasks assigned by Manager.Qualifications Required: High school diploma with basic Accounting knowledge.Familiar with Microsoft Office and Windows.Good verbal and written communication skills.IBM AS400, WebSmart and Kofax Readsoft experience preferred.1 to 2 years Accounting related experience/training preferred.
