Serves as a direct support to the Vice President, General Counsel by assisting in contract management, review, drafting. Serves as a member of the Department of Contracts and Legal Services that primarily supports Forrest Health on a variety of matters including: contract review and management, corporate maintenance, contract lifecycle management, MediTract system administration, due diligence and legal research. Responsible for performing paralegal services including drafting physician and non-physician contracts under the supervision of the General Counsel. Assist in communicating with vendors and updating regulatory documents such as Business Associate Agreements. Provide initial review of current contracts that are to be presented to, and approved by, the Hospital’s Board of Trustees and make initial determination on whether such contract is subject to, or exempt from, the Open Meetings Act. Coordinate and track Forrest Health’s DNV requirement of evaluating “all” system agreements and perform reporting functions as determined necessary by DNV upon annual audits. Assists in daily operations of Department as needed.
Education/Skills:
Requires: Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies or related field and/or paralegal certificate from an ABA approved paralegal program; proficient computer and word processing skills in MS: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat. Must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent drafting, editing and proofreading skills, as well as legal research skills. Familiarity with or willingness and ability to become familiar with Stark Law, Federal Anti-Kickback Statute and similar laws and regulations that apply in the healthcare industry.
Work Experience:
Prefers at least 3 years experience in a law firm or corporate law department or healthcare administration
